The name is improperly derived from the Many-Colored Portico in Athens (st≤a poikφlh). It
was once a garden filled with vegetation that covered an area of about 2 hectares, part of it constructed on top of the structures of the ½Hundred Small Chambers,╗ the lodgings on several stories for the villa's staff. A four-sided colonnade, with curved
shorter sides, it surrounded a pool of about 100 meters in length that has been restored and brought back into function in recent years. \par
